Supply Chain Decarbonization Programs

M&S and Schneider Electric Launch RE:Spark

The retailer Marks & Spencer, in collaboration with the energy technology firm Schneider Electric, launched a new "supply chain decarbonization programme" called RE:Spark. This environmental initiative is designed to address greenhouse gas emissions originating from the company's external supply network and encourage the adoption of clean electricity sources among its global suppliers.

The RE:Spark operational framework involves a centralized digital platform for data submission and progress monitoring, combined with educational resources and strategic consulting focused on renewable energy procurement. A key tactical component of the supply chain decarbonization programme is the facilitation of aggregated power purchase agreements, which allows smaller manufacturing partners to collectively access large-scale renewable energy contracts that would otherwise be financially or logistically out of reach.

The initiative will first concentrate on apparel suppliers in specific geographic regions before a planned expansion over a multi-year period.
