Rockwell Automation Delivers an Efficient Solution

Rockwell Automation, in collaboration with Actemium, has introduced an artificial intelligence-driven application called Real-Time Coefficient of Performance (RtCOP) — a solution designed to reduce refrigeration energy consumption in frozen food production by 17%. The solution is autonomous.

The Real-Time Coefficient of Performance runs on Rockwell Automation’s PlantPAx distributed control system and functions as a perpetual virtual operator that continuously evaluates and selects the most energy-efficient configurations for industrial refrigeration equipment. For a large producer of frozen french fry products, the RtCOP innovation has already delivered annual savings of approximately $130,000 per site while also decreasing mechanical strain on compressors, condensers, and evaporators, thereby extending equipment life. This, of course, also leads to a decreased carbon footprint, thanks to the lower electricity consumption.
