The National Waste & Recycling Foundation (NWRF), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s U.S. Forest Service, will nationally debut the 'Skip the Bin! Turn Your Batteries In!' public service announcement at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026 in Las Vegas. The campaign promotes environmentally responsible battery disposal by encouraging consumers to divert used batteries from household waste streams.

Featuring a modernized message from Woodsy Owl, the PSA highlights the environmental and safety benefits of proper battery recycling, including reduced fire risk and prevention of harmful materials entering landfills. Educational resources accompanying the campaign provide practical guidance for safe battery handling and disposal.

Following its CES launch, the initiative will roll out nationwide throughout 2026. The campaign builds on pilot programs in Washington state, Washington, D.C., and Illinois, which "supported community collection efforts and led to the safe recycling of more than 1,500 pounds of batteries."
