Doncaster Introduces Local Curbside Vape and Battery Collections
Kanesa D — November 28, 2025Starting this November, Doncaster residents now have a safer, more straightforward way to dispose of small household batteries, vapes, and e-cigarettes. Under the new system, these items can be placed in a sealed, clear bag and set on top of the blue recycling bin for collection during the regular waste round.
The update comes in response to a nationwide spike in battery-related fires, primarily driven by the rapid rise of disposable vapes and compact electronics tossed into general waste.
The expanded service allows households to hand over a wide range of small power sources for separate collection, including AA, AAA, C, D, button cells, 6V and 9V batteries, laptop and mobile phone batteries, and vapes and e-cigarettes.
The council says the new approach aims to reduce fire hazards, improve recycling rates, and give residents a more convenient way to dispose of items that require careful handling.
