Sphera and Evonik have introduced the chemical industry’s first TÜV-certified automated lifecycle assessment (LCA) process, dramatically accelerating the generation of product-level sustainability data. By combining Sphera’s advanced software with Evonik’s chemical expertise, LCAs can now be produced up to ten times faster than traditional methods, covering emissions, water use, and nutrient discharges with enhanced accuracy.

The innovation arrives as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) tighten demands for transparent, verifiable data. Already rolled out for more than 1,000 products, the automated LCA process boosts both regulatory readiness and customer trust while embedding sustainability insights directly into operations and product design.

The Sphera-Evonik collaboration sets a new benchmark for digital sustainability in chemicals. By transforming LCAs from weeks-long manual reports into rapid, TÜV-certified outputs, the partnership positions Evonik as a regulatory leader while expanding Sphera’s influence in industrial sustainability software. This scalable model could quickly ripple across global value chains.
