Starbucks Korea Experiments with Upcycled Consumer Experiences
Kanesa D — November 11, 2025In celebration of World Environment Month, Starbucks Korea hosted a three-day sustainability event, encouraging customers to forgo disposable shopping bags in favor of reusable ones. As an added reward, the first 20 visitors at each store received a limited-edition notebook crafted from recycled milk cartons.
The notebooks were made using paper collected from 60 Starbucks stores in Daejeon since October 2024, with each cover containing 30% upcycled milk carton material, symbolizing transformation and sustainability in action.
The event also spotlighted Starbucks Korea’s expanding Slow Mailbox Program, first introduced at the 7th Community Store in Jeju Sehwa DT. The initiative repurposes vintage public postboxes, restored without chemicals, allowing customers to write upcycled postcards that are mailed back a year later.
