Odor-Removing Additives

Struktol's New Additives Prevent Odor in Recycled Plastic Applications

Struktol Company of America has launched two additives—RP 17 and RP 53—to address odor challenges in recycled plastics and support higher recycled-content use without sacrificing product quality. RP 17 acts as an odor mask and also serves as a processing aid, improving lubrication, mold release, mixing efficiency, and surface finish. RP 53 works as an odor neutralizer, targeting compounds such as mercaptans, amines, and phosphites that commonly cause off-notes in recycled resins.

Both low-dust formulations enhance filler dispersion, operate over a broad range of processing temperatures, and help manufacturers meet environmental standards by reducing VOC emissions. Together, they offer a practical solution for improving the sensory and performance characteristics of recycled plastics.
