Sunshine and Wild Co.'s Apparel That Showcases Yukon's Beauty

Owners Anika Phillips and Emilie Denis are behind the innovative business named Sunshine and Wild Co., based in Whitehorse, Yukon. Sunshine and Wild Co. produces women's clothing that depicts the real beauty of the Yukon's landscapes, something that Anika and Emilie recognized was lacking among existing options in the region.

“When I first moved here, I was so proud to be here”, says Phillips, who describes being blown away by the beauty of the Yukon’s vast landscapes. “It really took my breath away and brought me to tears multiple times. [But,] I felt like there was nothing in the territory to represent these landscapes through clothing.”

Sunshine and Wild Co. sources materials and labour specifically from manufacturers that utilize ethical labour practices, ensuring workers are paid fair wages and have safe working conditions. Additionally, artwork used on products is designed by local artists who are paid under contract. The brand's newest release is a line of vests made using recycled materials sourced from the community.
