Mascot-Based Eco-Tourism Campaigns
The 'Visit Malaysia 2026' Campaign Features Wira and Manja
Debra John — February 28, 2026The 'Visit Malaysia 2026' campaign incorporates two animated mascots, 'Wira' and 'Manja,' as part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable tourism and environmental awareness. Inspired by the Malayan Sun Bear, a species native to the region and classified as vulnerable, the mascots serve as symbolic ambassadors for wildlife conservation and responsible travel practices.
Wira is characterized as representing strength and resilience, while Manja embodies warmth and approachability, reflecting Malaysia’s cultural emphasis on hospitality. Through these attributes, the campaign aims to engage diverse audiences and communicate environmental messaging in an accessible and inclusive manner.
Wira and Manja will be integrated across promotional materials, digital platforms, and public engagement initiatives. In addition to supporting international tourism marketing efforts, the mascots are intended to raise awareness of biodiversity protection, encourage visitation to protected natural areas, and promote environmentally responsible tourism activities throughout Malaysia’s parks and key destinations.
