Corporate Emission Reductions

Bio-Techne Cuts Operational Emissions with Renewable Electricity

Bio-Techne is advancing corporate emission reductions through renewable electricity adoption and independently validated greenhouse gas targets. The life sciences company reduced its market-based Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 49% year-over-year while increasing renewable sources to 51% of its total electricity consumption. Its Minneapolis headquarters now operates on 100% renewable electricity, while renewable power procurement has also begun at its St. Paul GMP facility.

The Science Based Targets initiative validated Bio-Techne’s goal of reducing absolute Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 70% by fiscal year 2031 compared to a fiscal 2025 baseline. From a business perspective, independently verified targets can provide customers and suppliers with greater transparency around environmental commitments. Bio-Techne is also extending its strategy into its supply chain, aiming for suppliers representing 81% of relevant spending to establish science-based targets by fiscal 2030.
