General Motors announced it has achieved 100% renewable electricity matching across all US facilities in 2025, becoming the first American automaker to hit that milestone. The GM renewable energy achievement reflects a 52% reduction in operational emissions since 2018, with the company matching 70% of its global electricity use, nearly double its 2023 level.

GM's renewable portfolio draws on virtual power purchase agreements, utility clean energy programs, renewable energy credits and on-site generation. GM estimates that its domestic renewable investments have generated approximately $1.9 billion in GDP impact since 2015, supporting roughly 1,500 construction jobs annually across multiple states.

General Motors shows how long-term renewable energy contracts can support emissions-reduction targets, stabilize energy prices and boost the communities that host manufacturing facilities.
