Reduced Automaker Emissions Plans
Ferrari Signed a 10-Year Partnership with Shell Energy Italia
Colin Smith — November 26, 2025Shell Energy Italia and Ferrari signed a long‑term renewable supply contract committing 650 GWh of generation to Ferrari between 2025 and 2034, intended to meet nearly half of the electricity demand at Ferrari’s Maranello production site. The agreement combines physical delivery from a Shell‑developed facility with additional renewable energy certificates to address Ferrari’s broader Italian consumption, enabling the automaker to reduce the carbon intensity of its manufacturing operations and support its emissions‑reduction targets.
From an operational perspective, the PPA provides Ferrari with price and supply predictability while supplying a verified stream of renewable attributes for sustainability reporting. For Shell, the deal represents a large‑scale corporate off‑take that leverages its project development and contracting capabilities in Italy. The arrangement exemplifies how institutional PPAs can mobilize investment in renewable capacity, improve project bankability, and align industrial electricity use with decarbonization objectives, subject to delivery logistics, attribute verification, and coordination with grid operators.
