The United Arab Emirates has launched the world’s first 'Round-the-Clock Renewable Energy Project,' designed to provide clean electricity 24 hours a day. This groundbreaking initiative, led by Masdar and the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), tackles one of the biggest challenges in renewable energy—intermittency—by ensuring a steady supply of green power even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing.

The project will "deliver 1 gigawatt of reliable renewable energy at a competitive cost while creating over 10,000 new jobs in the clean energy sector." By combining advanced technology and large-scale energy storage, it will help reduce dependence on fossil fuels and support the UAE’s shift toward sustainable growth.

Once operational, the system will "prevent about 5.7 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, strengthening the country’s global leadership in climate action."
