Turbine Blade Surf Fins
Bolero Surf Debuts Surfboard Fins Made from Recycled Wind Turbine Blades
Kanesa D — March 11, 2026Bolero Surf has introduced a new line of surfboard fins produced from recycled wind turbine blades through a collaboration with renewable energy provider ACCIONA Energía. The launch represents the first retail product developed under ACCIONA’s Turbine Made initiative, a program established in 2025 to repurpose materials from decommissioned wind turbines into new consumer goods.
Manufactured in Australia by Bolero Surf, the fins incorporate fibreglass recovered from retired turbine blades. They are designed to provide the same level of performance as a traditional surfboard. Additionally, the fins were officially introduced at the Aussie Boardriders Battle on the Gold Coast, where professional surfer Darcy Crump used the equipment during competition.
“The fibreglass inside a wind turbine blade has so much inherent value, which for us means it can be turned into high-quality surfboard fins. By reusing this material, we avoid one of the most expensive and labour-intensive parts of traditional fin manufacturing,” said Banjo Hunt, founder of Bolero Surf.
