Brown Brothers Unveils Australia's First Aluminium Wine Bottle

Australia's Brown Brothers has introduced the country’s first aluminium wine bottle, aiming to cut carbon emissions linked to traditional glass manufacturing and transport.
The aluminium bottle is around 40% lighter than a glass bottle, making it cheaper and more energy-efficient to ship. It is also fully recyclable and eligible for a 10-cent refund through container deposit recycling schemes, encouraging consumer participation in recycling.
Brown Brothers has launched the packaging as a limited-edition summer trial, acknowledging that consumer acceptance may take time, as aluminium wine bottles remain unfamiliar to many drinkers. The company sees the format as a practical step toward reducing its reliance on heavy glass bottles, improving transport efficiency, and advancing long-term sustainability goals across its supply chain.
