DJ-Backed Plastic Initiatives

Bye Bye Plastic Foundation Taps Gigwell for the Eco-Rider 2.0

DJ and producer BLOND:ISH is pushing for sustainability in the music world. Determined to cut out plastic use at music events, she launched the nonprofit Bye Bye Plastic in 2018, which later became an official foundation in 2020.

Since then, the Bye Bye Plastic Foundation has joined forces with major music festivals, such as SXM Festival, and collaborated with eco-minded artists such as Adam Beyer and Gorgon City. One of their main initiatives, the Eco-Rider, is a green hospitality checklist that artists can include in their performance contracts. It has been adopted by more than 1,500 performers since 2019, preventing over 325,000 single-use plastic bottles from entering landfills.

Now, with the release of Eco-Rider 2.0, Bye Bye Plastic has partnered with the booking and tour management platform Gigwell to share the program across its vast network of more than 100,000 artists, managers, and booking agents. Notable partners include Sam Feldt, VNSSA, and Mia Moretti.
