Christmas Tree Recycling Efforts

Easttown Township Launches a New Recycling Program for Residents

Easttown Township is encouraging residents to clean up after the holidays by recycling certain decorations and materials over the next week. Now through January 12, residents can bring old, broken, or tangled string lights to the township building for proper recycling instead of throwing them away.

For those who have real Christmas trees, the township is also offering a convenient way to dispose of them. Live trees can be placed out for regular yard waste pickup on January 13. In addition, several common packaging materials from holiday gifts can be recycled locally. Items such as bubble wrap, cellophane, air pillows, and plastic bags can be dropped off at either the township building or the Easttown Library.

These materials are accepted through the NexTrex Plastic Bag and Film Recycling program, which helps turn hard-to-recycle plastics into new products. More details about how the program works and what materials are accepted can be found online.
