Long Beach Unveils a Treecycling Program for After the Holidays
Kanesa D — December 4, 2025Long Beach has launched a new program to help consumers responsibily dispose of their live holiday trees. After the Christmas season, many consumers struggle to figure out where to get rid of their trees due to their size and risk of catching fire. The initiative has been a tradition across Long Beach for years, and is directly responsible for transforming 155 tons of holiday trees into landscaping mulch.
The city requests the trees have all decorations removed and that stands be detached. 12-foot and taller trees must be cut in half and left unwrapped. Flocked trees are still permitted, but artificial ones are not. Trees should be placed at regular collection spots by 7 a.m. on the day of pickup, and consumers can find more information through the Treecycling website.
