Formula E Debuted the GEN4 as Its Fastest Electric Race Car Yet
Adam Harrie — April 28, 2026References: businesswire
Formula E and the FIA ran the 'GEN4' its fastest electric race car ever on track for the first time in southern France ahead of its competitive season debut in 2026/27. The Formula E GEN4 electric car delivers 600 kW of peak output and reaches 200 kph nearly one and a half seconds quicker than the previous iteration.
The GEN4 is the first single-seater racing car with permanent all-wheel drive and incorporates at least 20% recycled materials in its construction. Manufacturers were given broader latitude to bring their own ideas and technologies into the car, strengthening its connection to real-world EV development.
Formula E shows how all-electric motorsports can both advance and represent EV development in motorsports and real life.
