The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and the Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau have launched the 2026 Anita Conti Sustainable Innovation Fellowship, a program designed to support early‑career researchers working on sustainability related topics. The fellowship provides approximately HKD 59,000 to cover round‑trip travel, accommodation and living expenses for a three‑month research period. Participants may conduct research either at HKUST or at partner institutions in France, with placements scheduled for June to August for French researchers visiting Hong Kong and September to December for HKUST researchers traveling to France. The initiative continues a collaboration that has supported research in areas such as nanomaterial safety, sustainable aircraft design and renewable energy.

The fellowship is named in honor of Anita Conti, recognized as France’s first female oceanographer and noted for her contributions to marine conservation. It aims to strengthen scientific exchange between the two regions while advancing research on climate and environmental challenges. Eligibility is open to PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers, with priority given to applicants from Hong Kong, Macau and France depending on the direction of exchange. The application period for the 2026 cohort remains open until January 30, 2026.
