Kingspan x Meranti Green Steel Partner to Drive Low-Carbon Steel
Georgia Wray Norsten — October 31, 2025Kingspan has announced a new partnership with Meranti Green Steel, signing a Memorandum of Understanding to accelerate the green steel adoption across the Asia Pacific region. The collaboration supports Kingspan’s Planet Passionate sustainability program, which focuses on reducing emissions across its manufacturing operations and sourcing low-carbon materials to achieve a more sustainable built environment.
Through this partnership, Kingspan will secure green steel from Meranti’s upcoming plant in Thailand -- set to break ground in 2026 and begin operations by 2029. Using recycled scrap, hot briquetted iron, and green hydrogen, Meranti aims to cut the carbon intensity of its steel by up to 90% by 2045 compared to traditional production. The company’s renewable energy strategy includes partnerships for 1.7 GW of solar, wind, and hydro power generation across Thailand.
This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to transforming the construction materials sector. By combining Kingspan’s expertise in sustainable building solutions with Meranti’s low-emission manufacturing technology, the two companies are setting a strong precedent for industrial decarbonization and regional clean energy growth.
