Mesa Verde Pellets Introduces a Cat Litter Made from Aspen Wood Waste

Mesa Verde Pellets has launched a new line of cat litter made from aspen wood waste, providing a biodegradable, locally sourced alternative to conventional clay-based products. The pellets are crafted entirely from sawdust and wood fiber byproducts produced at Aspen Wall Wood and Aspen Wood Products facilities in Mancos and Dolores, ensuring no additional trees are cut down.
The new product, Catkins, is available in 10- and 20-pound bags and comes with a specially designed scooper for pellet-style litter boxes. It can be found at JC Pets and The Good Life Pet Food & Supplies in Cortez, Pet Haus in Durango, and Chow Down Pet Supplies in Pagosa Springs.
“We’re 100% locally owned and locally operated. All of our employees are local,” said President and CEO of Aspen Wall Wood and its subsidiaries, David Sitton. “We’ve all grown up here. So, this is a local venture.”
