Modern Water Management Systems

The City of Santa Barbara has implemented a modern water management system provided by Hubbell Incorporated, which centers on an Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) solution. This technology replaces the previous method of manual meter readings with a network that automatically collects water consumption data from households and transmits it to the utility.

Hubbell's modern water management system boasts a customer-facing online portal that provides detailed, hourly usage information, along with automated alerts for unusually high consumption that may indicate a leak. To facilitate the radio transmission of data, the City of Santa Barbara also installed specialized lids on existing meter boxes.

Since the implementation of the Advanced Metering Infrastructure solution, the region has noted a significant reduction in labor dedicated to manual readings and an enhanced ability to promote water conservation among residents.
