Climate Transparency Systems

Samsung Biologics has developed a Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) system to better understand and reduce the environmental impact of its products. The system measures greenhouse gas emissions across biopharmaceutical manufacturing, helping identify where emissions are created and where reductions are possible.

The PCF system has "been independently validated by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), confirming that it follows internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14067 and PAS 2050; this validation provides confidence that the calculations are accurate, consistent, and transparent."

By using this validated system, Samsung Biologics can clearly communicate product-level carbon footprint data to customers and partners. This supports more informed decision-making across the value chain and encourages shared efforts to reduce emissions. Overall, the PCF system strengthens environmental accountability, supports sustainability goals, and helps drive practical actions to lower carbon impacts in biopharmaceutical production.
