SeaCube Container Leasing Expands to Provide Sustainable Models
Debra John — February 26, 2026SeaCube Container Leasing is expanding its cold chain services with a strong focus on sustainability. As global shipping slows and investment tightens, the company is choosing to invest in greener solutions instead. On February 24, SeaCube introduced a strategy designed to cut emissions across supply chains, especially Scope 3 emissions, which come from indirect activities like transportation and equipment use.
A key part of this plan is extending the life of refrigerated containers. Rather than discarding older units, SeaCube refurbishes and repurposes high-efficiency electric reefers for domestic cold storage. This reduces waste, lowers the need for new materials, and decreases overall carbon emissions.
By reusing and upgrading equipment, SeaCube supports a circular economy model that keeps resources in use for longer. The approach helps companies reduce their environmental footprint while maintaining reliable temperature-controlled storage and transport. It also improves energy efficiency across facilities and operations.
