Twiliner Unveils Sustainable Double-Decker Overnight Buses
Kanesa D — September 16, 2025Swiss startup Twiliner will launch its first fleet of double-decker overnight buses by year’s end, offering a comfortable and eco-friendly alternative to planes and trains. Initial routes will connect Switzerland with Barcelona and Amsterdam, with plans to expand across Europe.
Unlike typical long-distance coaches, each bus seats only 21 passengers and features workstation-style seating that converts into a two-meter flat bed at the push of a button, replacing cramped rows. Travelers also have access to wardrobes, toilets, and a snack bar.
Tickets start at €170, including both hand and checked luggage, with free travel for children under five. Positioned as a premium service rather than a budget travel option, Twiliner highlights its sustainability: buses emit up to 91% less CO₂ than airplanes, powered by synthetic gas and renewable fuel options.
