UNIQLO's 'UNtrash It' Initiative Expands to Los Angeles and Texas

UNIQLO, Waste Management (WM), and Piece of Cake Moving and Storage have broadened their apparel collection initiative to Los Angeles and Dallas.

Named 'UNtrash It,' this initiative aligns with UNIQLO’s RE.UNIQLO take-back platform and is designed to capture unwanted garments during residential moves—a point at which individuals are typically evaluating what to keep or discard. The companies noted that the service will be offered at no cost throughout April in recognition of Earth Month.

Customers scheduling a move with Piece of Cake can designate clothing items for collection alongside their household goods. These items are then funneled into UNIQLO’s processing stream, where they are assessed and directed toward donation or recycling channels. WM will apply its textile sorting capabilities to identify non-wearable materials, enabling potential recovery through reuse or recycling pathways.

“At UNIQLO, our philosophy is to create high-quality, perfected essentials that our customers will love to wear for years to come,” Jean Shein, global director of sustainability at UNIQLO, said.
