The virtual power plant systems developed by Ecosuite are being tested in Washington, D.C. through a five-year pilot led by the DC Public Service Commission. The initiative explores how distributed energy resources, including rooftop solar panels, battery storage, and EV charging, can be coordinated in real time to support grid performance.

Ecosuite’s platform uses on-site edge compute nodes to connect and manage multiple energy assets simultaneously, allowing buildings to function as responsive energy contributors rather than passive consumers. This system enables dynamic load balancing, increases solar hosting capacity, and reduces pressure on aging infrastructure.

By aggregating smaller energy sources into unified networks, the solution creates new opportunities for scalable, decentralized grid management. The project highlights how digitally connected energy ecosystems can improve reliability, enhance efficiency, and support the transition toward more flexible and resilient urban power systems.
