The Airports Council International (ACI) World will place sustainability at the center of its advocacy during the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 42nd Assembly, scheduled to take place in Montreal from 23 September to 3 October 2025. As global air travel continues to expand, ACI World seeks to influence international aviation policies on safer operations, seamless travel, net-zero pathways, and enhanced connectivity.

With passenger traffic projected to "nearly double to 18.9 billion by 2047, the assembly provides a critical platform for aligning standards and priorities among ICAO’s 193 member states." To address the industry’s long-term challenges, ACI World will present six 'Working Papers,' with a strong focus on environmental responsibility. A central proposal emphasizes energy demand and decarbonization, advocating for airports to secure reliable access to renewable energy sources which encourages national coordination and policy support, ACI World aims to ensure airports can meet ambitious net-zero targets while supporting sustainable growth in global aviation.
