Electric Bus System Agreements

Arriva Group Received a Contract Extension in East Brabant

Arriva Group has secured a 12.5-year contract extension, valued at €1.6 billion, to operate public bus services in East Brabant beginning December 2026. Under this agreement, the company will deploy 170 new zero-emission electric buses across the region, replacing diesel-powered vehicles and aligning with provincial goals for sustainable transit. The introduction of this expanded electric fleet is intended to enhance service frequency and reliability for both local residents and the growing number of tourists visiting East Brabant’s urban and rural destinations.

The zero-emission buses will improve connectivity to key attractions—including Eindhoven’s museum quarter and technology hubs, Helmond Castle, and National Park de Groote Peel—while reducing local air pollutants and noise levels. The contract also extends Arriva’s existing route network to link Eindhoven Airport with city centres and surrounding towns, facilitating seamless, eco-friendly travel for business and leisure passengers. By integrating the electric fleet into East Brabant’s transport infrastructure, the province aims to strengthen its reputation as a leader in sustainable tourism and low-carbon urban mobility.
