Back-Contact Solar Panels

Back-contact solar panels are expanding across Europe as TCL SunPower Global begins commercial deliveries of its C2 module range. Designed without front-side metal busbars, the panels expose more active cell surface to sunlight, providing more than 5% additional usable power density compared with conventional front-contact panels of the same size. The range includes residential models reaching 495 W and 23.8% efficiency, alongside commercial and utility-scale versions delivering up to 670 W and 24.8% efficiency.

For installers and developers, higher power density can increase electricity generation within space-constrained rooftops and project sites. The C2 platform also combines low annual degradation with bifacial capabilities of up to 85% on select models, supporting long-term energy production. By scaling back-contact manufacturing and distributing the modules throughout Europe, TCL SunPower can address residential, commercial, and utility-scale demand through a single technology platform.
