Heterojunction Solar Cells

Heterojunction solar cells are strengthening U.S. renewable energy manufacturing as CS PowerTech opens the first phase of its flagship photovoltaic cell facility in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Designed to produce advanced bifacial N-type heterojunction (HJT) solar cells, the plant will eventually manufacture more than 6 GW of solar cells annually. Together with the company's module manufacturing facility in Mesquite, Texas, the new plant creates a more localized and vertically integrated solar supply chain while supporting domestic energy infrastructure and manufacturing.

The facility demonstrates how higher-efficiency solar cell technologies can increase electricity generation while improving the performance of next-generation solar modules. Expanding domestic production also reduces supply chain dependence, shortens delivery times and strengthens energy security as demand for renewable power grows. For CS PowerTech, the investment reinforces its position in the U.S. solar market while creating skilled manufacturing jobs and supporting long-term growth in advanced clean energy manufacturing.
