Domestic Solar Manufacturing Expansion
SEG Solar Opens a New 4 GW Module Factory in Texas
mursal rahman — May 7, 2026SEG Solar is expanding domestic clean-energy manufacturing through the development of a new 4 GW solar module facility in Houston, Texas. The nearly 500,000-square-foot factory will increase the company’s total U.S. production capacity to approximately 6 GW while supporting next-generation solar technologies such as heterojunction (HJT) modules. Designed to improve production flexibility, traceability, and delivery efficiency, the facility strengthens localized solar supply chains at a time when energy infrastructure demand continues to rise across the United States.
The business implications are significant for both the renewable energy and manufacturing sectors. The expansion represents more than $200 million in investment and could create up to 800 jobs, reinforcing domestic industrial growth. By developing a vertically integrated supply chain spanning ingots, wafers, and cells, SEG Solar positions itself to reduce sourcing risks and respond more effectively to changing trade policies and compliance requirements within the global solar market.
