Diamond Infrastructure Solutions and Third Pillar Solar have formed a strategic partnership to explore the installation of large-scale floating solar panels on reservoirs in Texas. This exclusive arrangement permits Third Pillar Solar to assess the feasibility of deploying solar energy systems with a potential capacity of 500 megawatts across water surfaces managed by Diamond.
The floating solar project boasts a dual-purpose design, which aims not only to generate renewable electricity but also to reduce water evaporation from the reservoirs by an estimated fifteen percent.
The venture represents a planned capital investment of over seven hundred million dollars and is projected to create numerous employment opportunities throughout its construction and operational phases. If realized, this initiative would constitute the most extensive floating solar development in the Americas, presenting an alternative to traditional ground-mounted solar farms by utilizing existing water infrastructure without requiring additional land.
