Origis Energy, a renewable energy development company, is spearheading the construction and operation of a large-scale solar power installation in Ector County, Texas, named Swift Air Solar.
Swift Air Solar began operating in April of 2025 with a specific power offtake agreement in place. The electricity generated by the large-scale solar power installation is supplied to a major direct air capture facility known as STRATOS, which is being developed by Occidental Petroleum’s subsidiary, 1PointFive, in the same region. Origis Energy, however, retains ownership and manages the ongoing operations of the solar project upon its completion.
As such, Swift Air Solar attempts to solve a critical challenge for direct air capture — the substantial energy requirements of the process. According to its website, Origis Energy's facility has 145 MW capacity, has powered 49K homes, and avoided 250 K MT in CO2 emissions.
