Home Battery Backup Expansions

Base Power Has Brought Whole-Home Battery Backup to Chicagoland

Base Power launched across the Chicagoland area, offering ComEd customers home battery backup power and electricity rates at least 25% below ComEd's default supply rate. The company installs a battery in every participating home, using it to reduce strain on the grid during peak-demand periods while also providing whole-home backup power for critical equipment such as sump pumps during outages.

The launch marks Base Power's first expansion outside Texas, where the company has powered more than 20,000 homes over the past three years and raised more than $1 billion to support national growth. Base Power is also opening a warehouse in Bloomingdale and plans to create approximately 50 local jobs. Service is now available across communities including Plainfield, Arlington Heights and Evanston.

Base Power shows how residential battery systems are evolving beyond backup power to become tools for both household savings and broader grid resilience.
