Beiersdorf Adopts Fully Recycled Aluminium Cans for European Consumers

Beiersdorf and Ball Corporation have completed the transition of Beiersdorf’s European aerosol cans to 100% post-consumer recycled aluminium, marking a significant milestone in the company’s sustainability initiatives.
The effort began as a pilot program in 2024 and was expanded across Europe in 2025. As part of the rollout, several deodorant sprays from NIVEA MEN, as well as select products from the 8×4 range, are now packaged in aerosol cans made entirely from recycled aluminium.
According to Beiersdorf, the shift is expected to lower the carbon footprint associated with its aluminium packaging while advancing the company’s broader environmental objectives.
“We want to reach net zero by 2045, and for this, we must embed solutions that are a true win, not only for our planet, but also for our consumers and our business. Our strategic cooperation with Ball delivers very well into that," said Beiersdorf R&D global packaging development Kelvin Oecksler.
