XISUI Design Harnesses an Old Beijing Bus as Foundation

XISUI Design has created a public playground installation titled 'Old Beijing Bus: The Public Children's Space with a Bus Theme on the Streets of Changping.' This project is located within a renovated park in Beijing.
The 'Old Beijing Bus: The Public Children's Space' installation involves the artistic deconstruction and reinterpretation of the historic BK640 bus model — the first domestically manufactured bus in China, which served a critical local route. XISUI Design transformed this public transportation icon into a multi-functional and interactive play structure. The playground's layout is divided into distinct zones that cater to different age groups. The repurposed bus-inspired setting incorporates elements for climbing, sliding, role-playing, and sensory exploration.
XISUI Design also ensured to integrate safety considerations and aesthetic choices that reference the original Beijing bus' red-and-white color scheme.
