Meliá Chiang Mai's Chef Billy Was Awarded the Green People Award

Executive chef Suksant Chutinthratip, also known as Chef Billy at Meliá Chiang Mai, was awarded the 'Green People' accolade by Thailand's Chiang Mai Green Kitchen program for his work linking hotel menus with local farmers and seasonal agriculture. Both of the hotel's restaurants earned their fourth consecutive Sustainable Hotel Kitchen Awards through the same initiative.

Chef Billy collaborates with local farmers on seasonal planning to better align what is grown with the kitchen's needs. He also advises on pricing, marketing and business fundamentals to help producers move beyond supplying raw ingredients and toward running more commercially viable farm operations.

Meliá Chiang Mai shows how a single chef can build relationships with local growers to create more regionally aligned menus and dining experiences.
