Aitken Spence Hotels has been recognized as 'World’s Leading Sustainable Female Empowerment Initiative 2025' at the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards, acknowledging its integration of gender inclusion with environmentally responsible hospitality practices. The company embeds sustainability education through the Aitken Spence Institute of Hotel Management, which has trained more than 9,000 students in responsible tourism and sustainable operations.

A core component of this approach is the Green Graduates initiative, which ensures trainees develop practical skills in energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, and community impact management. These graduates support a network of eco-certified hotels across Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and India, contributing to reduced emissions, lower water usage, and improved food waste management.

By linking workforce development with sustainability outcomes, Aitken Spence Hotels demonstrates how inclusive training programs can strengthen environmental performance while building a skilled workforce capable of advancing greener hospitality operations across the region.
