Amcor is joining a three-year initiative led by the Danish Technological Institute to advance plastic recycling. The collaborative project, known as Circular Recycling Innovation for Sustainable Packaging (CRISP), aims to achieve full-scale circular recycling of household-collected food packaging made from polyethylene and polypropylene rigid plastics. The ultimate goal is to establish a fully circular market for recycled HDPE and recycled PP food packaging.

The initiative supports Denmark’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) framework, which requires manufacturers to cover the costs of the packaging they introduce to the market. The project also offers incentives to encourage more sustainable design and material choices.

“Sustainable challenges require industry collaboration, and this partnership will demonstrate what can be done when the supply chain comes together,” said Christian Bruno, R&D Director for North-East Europe at Amcor. “We are proud to be part of a project that could potentially have a significant environmental impact in Denmark and set new standards worldwide.”
