Plastic-Free Feed Packaging

Germany-based company Evonik is introducing a new 25kg paper bag for its MetAMINO (DL-methionine) brand, eliminating the previously used plastic film. The new packaging, which Evonik claims is fully recyclable and saves 32 tonnes of polyethylene annually, is compatible with EU recycling standards and the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). Evonik hopes that with this swap, it will be able to lower the environmental impact of transporting fumed silica.

“Product packaging plays an important role in our company’s efforts to reduce CO₂ emissions and achieve a resource-conserving circular economy. Packaging must protect the product effectively, but it should do so in the most environmentally friendly way possible," said Evonik Animal Nutrition amino acid business Dr Dirk Hoehler.
