Hybrid Solar Energy Storage

Hybrid solar energy storage is helping commercial properties improve energy resilience by combining renewable power with battery storage. Sungrow partnered with The Green Way Solar to install a hybrid energy system at The Peech Hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa, featuring a 125 kW solar inverter and a 257 kWh battery energy storage system. The solution captures excess solar electricity generated during the day and stores it for use during the hotel's morning and evening demand peaks, while also integrating municipal electricity and diesel backup to ensure continuous operations.

The project demonstrates how intelligent solar and battery systems can reduce dependence on conventional power sources while maintaining reliable electricity for energy-intensive businesses. Storing renewable energy for use outside daylight hours improves overall system efficiency and lowers operating costs. For Sungrow, the installation highlights the growing demand for integrated energy solutions in the hospitality sector and creates opportunities to expand commercial solar and storage deployments across markets facing grid reliability challenges.
