Industrial Water Recovery Membranes
Dupont Creates High-Pressure Membranes for Water Reuse
mursal rahman — April 9, 2026The industrial water recovery membranes introduced by DuPont expand the capabilities of reverse osmosis systems in high-salinity environments. The FilmTec™ Fortilife™ XC220 and XC-Max UHP elements operate at ultra-high pressures, allowing industrial facilities to concentrate brine up to 250 g/L NaCl while increasing overall water recovery. This reduces reliance on energy-intensive thermal processes, particularly in Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) and Minimal Liquid Discharge (MLD) systems.
This development supports more cost-efficient water management by lowering energy consumption, reducing waste volumes and minimizing downstream treatment requirements. Industries facing stricter discharge regulations can also benefit from improved compliance while maintaining operational efficiency. As water scarcity and regulatory pressures grow, advanced membrane technologies like these are expected to play a larger role in enabling scalable, resource-conscious industrial processes across sectors such as manufacturing, energy and microelectronics.
