Climate Impact Partners and Aviva Investors initiated the Llanos Vivos project in Colombia's Orinoquía region. The project focuses on carbon removal by converting 13,600 hectares of grassland into a biodiverse native woodland. The first phase targets 2.4 million tonnes of sequestered carbon, with the project's total potential exceeding six million tonnes over its lifespan.

The site will create ecological corridors throughout the surrounding landscape and support over 110 local jobs during peak nursery planting seasons, in nurseries and planting crews, and in long-term forest management. Community-run farm areas are also being integrated into the project design.

Aviva Investors demonstrates that financing large-scale forest restoration on ecologically important degraded land can deliver tangible carbon reductions while also providing enduring benefits for communities and biodiversity.
