Boxed Smart-Tap Oils

MOL Lubricants Introduces an Eco-Friendly Bag-In-Box Packaging Design

MOL Lubricants is rolling out a new sustainable packaging solution for its engine and transmission oils, designed to cut plastic waste and streamline operations. Starting in September, the oils will be sold in 5 and 20-litre bag-in-box containers, replacing traditional plastic canisters with a more environmentally conscious option.

The bag-in-box design includes a built-in tap for clean, precise pouring, eliminating drips and spills. MOL says the new packaging uses 80% less plastic than the standard 20-litre canister and reduces waste volume by up to twelve times. Once emptied, the cardboard box is fully recyclable, making disposal easier for workshops and industrial users.

The compact format also boosts logistics efficiency: up to 88% more units can fit on a pallet, potentially reducing transportation costs by up to 40%, depending on delivery conditions. The swap will affect nineteen of the brand's different lubricants.
