Second-Life Battery Systems

Moment Energy is repurposing used electric vehicle batteries into energy storage systems designed for grid and industrial use. By extending the life of EV batteries through a modular, pack-swapping architecture, the system allows older batteries to be reused for up to 30 years instead of being discarded after vehicle use. This approach helps address both battery waste and growing demand for energy storage, particularly as power needs increase from data centers and electrification. The systems can be deployed quickly and use existing battery resources, reducing reliance on new raw materials.

This model lowers the cost of energy storage while improving resource efficiency. Longer system lifespans and reduced material inputs can improve return on investment for utilities and industrial users. It also creates a new value stream for retired EV batteries, supporting a more circular supply chain while helping stabilize energy infrastructure as demand continues to grow.
