Nova Chemicals Corp. has launched two new recycled polyethylene (rPE) resins, rPE-IN3 and rPE-IN4, which are made entirely from post-consumer recycled (PCR) films. These new products add to its Syndigo portfolio.

The recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) resins are designed for non-food, general-purpose applications, including can liners, carryout bags, protective packaging, overwrap, shrink film, and heavy-duty sacks.

The first option, Syndigo rPE-IN3, is produced from recycled stretch films. Alternatively, Syndigo rPE-IN4 is made from a blend of retail polyethylene films.

Both resins are sourced from back-of-store and distribution center collection programs.

“These new Syndigo grades have been testing tremendously with our customers over the last several months, and we are excited to make them widely available in commercial quantities [...],” said Alan Schrob, director of mechanical recycling, Nova Chemicals.
