Sustainable Insect Repellents

Affix Labs is a Dutch green chemistry startup, and recently, the company revealed that it raised one million euros to expand its sustainable insect repellent product across Europe. The funding round was supported by investors VP Capital and Oost NL.

Affix Labs' sustainable insect repellent is dubbed Repeltec. The core innovation behind this offering is a patented water-based solubility technology that allows oily, normally water-insoluble active ingredients to be suspended in a water system, with a controlled-release layer that extends protection against insects for up to 12 weeks.

Unlike conventional repellents that rely on neurotoxic compounds, which have been linked to growing insect resistance and are facing tighter regulatory restrictions across the European Union, Repeltec is dermatologically tested and contains no such neurotoxic ingredients. It already holds active substance authorizations in Germany, France, Austria, and Norway.
