Upcycled Food Association Aims to Scale Upcycled Food Across Canada
Kanesa D — April 23, 2026Supported by the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre, a new initiative led by the Upcycled Food Association aims to unify Canada’s fragmented upcycling ecosystem and accelerate category growth. Officially launched on April 22, the network brings together producers, manufacturers, policymakers, and innovators to strengthen collaboration and unlock commercial opportunities within the emerging upcycled food sector.
The initiative builds on research conducted in 2025 by Vineland in partnership with the Upcycled Food Association, which assessed both the market potential and structural barriers facing the industry. Funded by the Canadian government, the study highlighted key gaps in infrastructure, awareness, and coordination. Its findings informed a national stakeholder summit held in June 2025, where industry participants convened to identify shared priorities and outline a roadmap for scaling upcycling efforts across Canada.
